MICHAEL BLOOMQUIST, PHD

Michael Bloomquist, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota and is adjunct director of Evidence-Based Practice at PrairieCare Medical Group, both in Minneapolis. He has more than 25 years of experience in working with youth and families and specializes in parent and family skills training (a.k.a. behavioral family therapy). Dr. Bloomquist also has extensive research experience in schools and is an investigator on several studies examining the effects of innovative mental health treatment models and community-based prevention programs for youth and families.

 

An avid teacher, Dr. Bloomquist conducts university courses on child psychopathology and psychotherapy, trains psychology students and post-doctoral fellows, and has conducted over 100 workshops and training seminars for parents, practitioners, and mental health organizations. In addition, he is the author of numerous journal articles and books about evidence-based interventions and prevention.
